A stellar wedding. Stellar, galactic, but also revolutionary in the Indian tradition with 500 guests from around the world.
Rohan Mehta, son of Indian billionaire Yogesh Mehta, married his Roshni in a lavish ceremony in Florence.
Three days of celebration.
It started at Palazzo Gerini with a Renaissance-style welcome dinner. On Thursday, the event moved to the decidedly underground spaces of the Stazione Leopolda in Porta a Prato. The grand industrial architecture was the heart of a party that played with fairy tale iconography and imagery related to the circus, featuring Fellini-esque installations and lights, a dinner amidst real flower walls, and a disco-party-show with black light and video mapping projections ready to enhance the grand architecture. Artists and jugglers entertained guests at the entrance in the courtyard illuminated by torches placed in giant vases in the style of Alice in Wonderland. While inside, amidst red velvet drapes and floral backdrops, there was a striking chandelier made with 350 ball pitchers by Mario Luca Giusti, assembled for the Modaprima event. An ornamental artistic fountain with water jets and a large golden gate was installed.
The wedding took place on Friday by the Arno River in Piazza Ognissanti, preceded by the traditional procession of the groom’s friends (Baraat). After the ceremony, the celebration continued with a grand gala reception at Villa Le Corti in San Casciano, just outside Florence.
